Professional and Educational Background:

Missouri State University – Bachelor of Science in Dietetics

Certified Functional Nutrition Coach

I have struggled with gut issues for as long as I can remember. From childhood, I’ve suffered from abdominal cramps, constipation, and diarrhea without understanding why. These issues were always so pervasive for me that they became a normal part of life. I didn’t realize how abnormal my symptoms were until my partner pointed it out, and recommended I see a nutritionist. Auvia did a very thorough deep-dive into my symptoms, health history, and lifestyle. She started me on a multi-stage regimen to boost my gut immune system, reduce my bad gut bacteria, and foster growth of good gut bacteria. After completing the regimen, I noticed a sharp reduction in my symptoms, and since then, I have felt better than I can ever remember! I would definitely recommend Auvia for anyone looking for a nutritionist. She is very thorough in her assessments and demonstrates that she knows her field extremely well. You can tell she has a passion for nutrition and helping her patients live their healthiest lives. Above all, as her patient, you can tell she very much cares about your well-being.

Could your IBS be from SIBO?

Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBO) is a condition where there are too many bacteria in the small intestine.  Studies suggest that at least 1/3 people diagnosed with IBS have SIBO.

When there’s an overgrowth of bacteria in the small intestine it can cause symptoms such as

  • Severe bloating
  • Abdominal pain and cramping
  • Chronic constipation and/or diarrhea
  • Excess gas

Without a test, we can’t tell for sure if your symptoms are from SIBO, but here are some clues that SIBO may be causing your issues:

  • You have 2 sets of pants – one size for bloated days and one size for non-bloated days.
  • Your symptoms started after a case of food poisoning and your gut never recovered.
  • For those with IBS-C, fiber only makes your constipation worse.
  • Everything makes you feel bloated.
  • You got diagnosed with celiac disease, but you’re still not feeling better on your gluten free diet.

There’s good news.

We can find out if you have SIBO, treat it, and get you feeling better.

You might be wondering…

I’ve tried so many things already. Why will this work?

We get it – when you’ve tried so many things, it’s normal to question whether the next thing will work.

Most IBS programs fail to give long-term relief because they only focus on elimination diets or killing off “bad gut bugs” and don’t focus on restoring the entire digestive process.  Elimination diets only mask the symptoms (giving you short-term relief), while causing further imbalances in the gut (leaving you feeling worse long-term).

That’s why this program focuses on getting to the root of your digestive issues and restoring digestive function from the mouth all the way through the digestive system.  We address your gut issues holistically using food, lifestyle, and supplements to create lasting change.  Our process is to find out what’s going wrong in your gut, why it’s going wrong, and give you the tools to fix it.

For every recommendation we give you, we’ll also explain why we’re making the recommendation so you can feel confident and empowered throughout the whole process.

Does this process involve supplements and tests?

For many clients, it does. But don’t worry—we’ll be able to pinpoint what you need (as well as what you don’t need). So you’re not just guessing or going off the recommendation of a friend.

Will this overwhelm my budget?

Nope! Some recommended treatment plans are a minimal cost, while others can be higher. But we can adjust your plan to work within your budget and still get you results.

How long does a course of treatment typically take?

This can vary according to the needs of each individual person. But a range of 4-8 monthly appointments is going to fit most people.

If you need to address a co-occurring eating disorder, your recommended treatment plan will most likely be more extensive.
